About Samdhana
Movement. Mindfulness. Collective care.
At Samdhana Yoga, we care deeply about how we live. Inside our bodies, within our communities, and on the planet we share. Our work integrates yoga, breathwork, meditation, and mindfulness with a science-informed understanding of anatomy, biomechanics, movement science, and brain health. At the heart of our teachings is a simple question: How do we shape a life that is sustainable for ourselves, others, and the world around us?
Our practices are time-tested, science-backed, and accessible. We’re here to support preventive, conscious living and to do it with curiosity, steadiness, and joy, together in community.

Alicia
Founder
Why I love teaching: I’ve been a movement educator for 42 years, (and counting), and it’s never felt like “work.”
I love helping students build strength, focus, and resilience while also remembering the value of play, rest, and downshifting the nervous system. In other words, how to balance both challenge and softness, effort and letting go.
What moves me most is the connection: coming together through movement, breath work, meditation, and the kind of honest conversations that open the heart. Trainings and retreats are especially meaningful, a space where we go deeper, evolve together, and experience genuine transformation. That feeling of community is everything. That for me is the Yoga or union. I hope I’ll be doing this for 42 more years!

Why I love teaching: Yoga is a practice of evolution, both for the teacher and the student.
I am passionate about creating a community where we can move and breathe in unison while honoring our unique paths. To witness the healing, emotion, and laughter that emerge on the mat is a privilege. Sharing these tools for joy and transformation is deeply rewarding, fueling my own sense of peace and purpose.
Styles taught: Vinyasa Flow (slow), Yin restorative, pranayama, Myofascial Roll-n-Release, Hiit Hatha, Relax and Renew, house blend.
Vibe: Serious casual, Pee Wee Herman meets Ram Das.

Teacher
Why I love teaching: It helps people to slow down and arrive fully in the present moment, not defined by the past or pulled towards the future.
My hope is that students leave my classes with a sense of equanimity that lingers, helping to inform how they move through the world and how they relate to others with more clarity, love, and presence.
Styles taught: Vinyasa Flow, Restorative, Yin
Vibe: My students often describe my classes as “sneaky.” Everything feels slow, steady, and relaxing in the moment… and then the next day arrives, bringing a pleasant “oh wow, I worked some muscles” kind of soreness.
My teaching style is grounded and thoughtful. I plan all of the classes I teach but I love observing the room and responding to what people need in the moment, letting each class unfold in a way that feels supportive and joyful.
Desert island pose: Plank! I love it because it’s the foundation from which so many other poses grow. Its shape may not look fancy, but it’s deceptively powerful. It challenges me, strengthens my whole body, makes me feel grounded and capable. It reminds me that sometimes the most simple shapes hold the biggest potential, a concept I think about often as it relates to yoga asana and all the other things in this life!

Teacher
Why I love teaching: I love teaching the "why" behind the "how" making the practice safer, stronger, and more intuitive
I discourage the pressure of perfection and am all-inclusive. Whether it’s trying a challenging balance or exploring a new transition, I approach the mat with lighthearted energy. The practice moves beyond the physical as we use movement as the mirror. All my classes are breath-led so students go much deeper.
Styles taught: Vinyasa , Aerial, Wheel, Sound Healing, Inside Flow, SUP
Vibe: Safe, strong, breath-led, and intuitive
Desert island pose: Skandasana
